Hi! My name is Matt. I’m the founder of HowtoStartaFoodBlog.com. I have only been blogging for a short time, but I absolutely love what I do, so I wanted to create a site that shows others exactly how to get started in the food blogging niche.
My journey began many years ago when I had no idea that “Food Blogging” was even a thing. I wanted so badly to start an online “legitimate” business that was enjoyable and could make a bit of income on the side while I worked full-time. Ideas began to flow, but I couldn’t get anything off the ground. So I continued my search.
I had just landed a new position and my drive was rather long…about 50 minutes one-way, so I thought how nice would it be to listen to podcasts about online business while I commuted. Searching podcasts on iTunes , I found Pat Flynn’s “The SmartPassive Income Podcast”. This is where my mind began realizing what was truly possible and how to make it happen.
While listening one morning on my way into work, Pat interviewed Lindsay and Bjork Ostrum from Pinch of Yum. This for me is where food blogging became real. They talked about how they got started – over their love of food, and how they continued to make it into a very successful business. Lindsay and Bjork also publish income reports, which is something that Pat Flynn does. The reports contain a wealth of information about what they are doing that works for them. Seeing the figures of what they are able to bring in monetarily is inspiring.
So as Pat always says, “don’t wait, just do it” – because you will never have it perfect, and if you’re waiting for perfect then you may never start. In the beginning it will be a learning experience and you will continue to grow each and everyday, so be patient and just keep at it. Listen to podcasts, read other blogs, follow people on Instagram, subscribe to their newsletters, all for the purpose of growing your knowledge and learning the ways. Food blogging is very enjoyable, but it requires discipline, patience, and a fearless attitude.
The rewards will come, I promise you that!
